Neil encouraged me to write a little statement for this project to keep me making so here it is. Hopefully my idea will make a little more sense.
15th July 2008
My work is has recently been exploring themes of home family and an individuals relationship with a space. In this work I draw attention to exhibition spaces and their relationship to where and how the work is produced. I have taken particular interest in the way promotional material is displayed in contemporary galleries. I plan to research the way different galleries make the material available and also look at how information is displayed in other public places, particularly temporary information.
From this I hope to make a variety of small works to be displayed in an exhibition type setting.

I have something to show you.

This is the little piece Ive been working on. I would display this in an empty space as if this is the information desk for the room, like the little table with the business cards on in exhibitions. I started this because I was thinking about these tables and also about how you make a space a home.
Working on the interior for the bottom shelf, and caring for the plant on the top shelf makes the space a perfect home to me, because I have given something to them.
Im not done tidying up the photos and the finish of the shelves but hopefully you can get the jist of what im thinking about.
(Thank you) x.
