I think I’ve found what I’d like to be my final idea for the term. Id been thinking about childrens toys after going to see Neil’s niece and nephew last week. It reminded me of that doll house collectors fair and how perfect the scale models were. I was thinking I could maybe scale up some of these models. Make them full size again. So I end up with a perfect model that has the marks of play and obsession built in.
Im going to go to the woodwork department next week and see how easy it would be to scale up all the joints and marks.
These are some photos I took at home when I was making a little model of a sculpture I was planning but I think the photos and scale are maybe better. I’ll scan them properly later so you can see. Please let me know what you think of the idea.
Thank you x.

I was going to write about a ‘Miniatures and Doll House Fair’ that my auntie took my mum, sister and I to a few times. It used to be on at the university where she worked. The first time we went I think we all expected children’s toys, it turned out the fair was more for adult collectors. I remember being at once utterly bored and fascinated while walking through the aisles of intricately crafted individual tiles for use in 1:24th scale houses. I’ve been meaning to write this down for weeks. Tonight I decided to look up the fairs and found that the same fair is on tomorrow. I can’t make it there but I wish I could.
