Today, i spent all day outside drawing and sewing, just for something to do. I’ve been feeling so useless lately. I stupidly let myself get burnt but it was still a lovely day x.

I found this artist today, I’m not really taken with the image but I really like her description.

Commissary Arts is currently showing Hive Moments, an exhibition featuring the prints and mixed media works on paper of Los Angeles-based artist Nancy Macko. Macko explores the themes of society, art, science, and technology through the matriarchal culture of the honey bee. In honey bee society, a queen bee reigns over the hive and controls the activity of other bees. This matriarchal society inspires Macko, who grew up in a household of only women after her father died at age six. The interactive and organized realm of school became her world and separated her from the chaos at home. The hive, with its highly controlled chaos, combined both of these realms for the artist.

I put this bird thing in a tree, but it was clearly meant for real birds. I let it rest, but it looked vulnerable and lonely. So I’m making it a home, and a makeover, and a completely different thing. Hopefully everything should be dry in the morning x.

This is what ive been thinking about- birds, fingers, hands, laminating and feeling all multifaceted. I know these aren’t overly mature looking but they amuse me x.

I don’t think the floors of Ikea are meant to look like Doris Salcedo’s work.
